But the whole thing has become a more prominent topic of conversation of late, because one of those cheap knock-offs made it into the top ten last month. But that’s what they’re doing right now.įor the last few years, cheap knock-offs of pop songs, hastily recorded after the original has been heard on the radio for the first time, have occasionally made it into the lower reaches of the charts, via iTunes-style download sales, ahead of the commercial release of the original version.
